Kitschy Cuisine comes from two different concepts:
Kitsch
defined as “something of tawdry design, appearance, or content created to appeal to popular or undiscriminating taste”
Cuisine
defined as “1. a style or quality of cooking; cookery: Italian cuisine; This restaurant has an excellent cuisine. and 2. the kitchen or culinary department of a house, hotel, etc.”
Combined the two, and viola! Kitschy Cuisine.
Kitschy Cuisine encompasses the nostalgia of a time not long ago when recipes weren’t on the Internet, entertaining was an art, and you dressed up just to go to a neighbor’s house for dinner. You served weird food on goofy plates and thought you were the most elegant thing around.
